Saving the addresses of internet sites

Once you have found a useful site, you may wish to save the web address so that you can easily return to it at the click of a mouse, rather than having to retype it again.

Internet Explorer is the most popular program for viewing websites. It can keep a list of website addresses which are of particular interest to you. This option is called 'Favourites'.

The Favourites list can be opened either by selecting the menu option or by clicking on the yellow folder toolbar button. A panel will then open on the left of your screen.

By default the program will already be loaded with the addresses of numerous American entertainment and internet sites. If they are of no interest to you - highlight them and press the delete key. You don't need to keep them.

Whenever you have a page opened that you may wish to return to - click the 'Add...' link and the address will be saved and appended to the list shown in the panel.

If you collect a large number of Favourites, you may need to organise them into categories. The yellow folders show on the Favourites list in the illustration, all represent personal folders for collecting groups of web sites with particular themes. You can create as many or few of these as is useful. To do this, select the 'Organise ...' link on the Favourites panel. Individual Favourites can then be moved into the folders.

The Favourites box can be closed either by clicking on the yellow folder toolbar button, or by clicking on the 'X' to the right of 'Favourites'.
